Drivey Car ("the app," "we," "us") is a game for iPhone, iPad, and Apple Watch developed by Satoru Labs. This policy explains how Drivey Car handles your information. In short: Drivey Car collects no personal data and runs no servers of its own, and everything it stores stays on your device. It talks to two of Apple's services and to nothing else: Game Center, if you choose to use it, and the App Store, which supplies the Supporter Pack's price and handles any purchase. Both are described below.
The short version
- We do not collect any personal data.
- We do not use analytics, advertising, tracking, or third-party SDKs.
- We run no servers of our own, and the game is fully playable offline. The only connections the app makes are to Apple's own services: Game Center, which you control and can leave unused, and the App Store, which supplies the Supporter Pack's price and handles a purchase or restore. Nothing is sent anywhere else.
- We operate no servers, accounts, or logins of our own. Game Center, if you use it, is Apple's optional service, not ours.
- Optional tilt steering reads your device's motion sensors only to steer the car, live, in memory; never recorded, stored, or transmitted.
- We do not sell, share, or transfer any data to anyone, because we never collect any.
What data we collect
None. Drivey Car does not collect any personal or usage data about you, and there is no server of ours for it to send anything to. The only things that ever leave your device are the leaderboard scores you submit through Apple's Game Center and the App Store request that fetches the Supporter Pack's price or completes a purchase. Both go to Apple, under Apple's privacy policy, and neither sends us anything about you.
What is stored on your device
To make the game work as you'd expect, Drivey Car saves a small set of game values locally on each device using the operating system's standard on-device preference storage (Apple's UserDefaults):
- Your scores and stats: your best score and lifetime play values that drive progress and garage unlocks.
- Your preferences: settings such as steering mode (touch-drag or tilt), your selected car, and sound on/off.
These values stay on that device at all times. They are per-device: your coins, unlocked cars, and best score on your iPhone or iPad are separate from those on your Apple Watch. The one exception is your best scores: if you use Game Center, they are submitted to Apple's leaderboards, and a best you set while signed out is submitted the next time you sign in, so a score is not lost because Game Center happened to be unavailable when you earned it. Nothing else leaves the device, none of it is visible to us, and none of it is shared with anyone. If you delete Drivey Car, this information is removed along with the app.
Tilt steering & motion sensors
Drivey Car offers an optional tilt-steering control scheme. It is off by default (the default control is touch-drag or, on Apple Watch, the Digital Crown), and you turn it on yourself in the in-app settings.
- When tilt steering is on, the app reads your device's motion sensors (via Apple's CoreMotion) to sense how you're tilting, and uses those readings in real time, in memory, for the sole purpose of steering the car.
- Those readings are never recorded, stored, saved, logged, or transmitted anywhere. They exist only for the instant they move the car, then are discarded. There is no motion history and no "driving data"; nothing leaves your device.
- If you leave tilt steering off, the motion sensors are not used for steering at all.
- Because the readings are used only as live input and never leave the device, this is not data collection under Apple's definition, and it involves no tracking.
Analytics, advertising, and tracking
Drivey Car contains no analytics tools, no advertising, no tracking technologies, and no third-party software development kits (SDKs). We do not track you across apps or websites, and we do not build any profile about you.
Network connections
Drivey Car requires no internet connection to play, and it communicates with no server of ours, because we do not have one. It connects only to two of Apple's own services:
- Game Center (optional): if you are signed in, your leaderboard score is sent to Apple's Game Center service, never to us. See "Game Center" below.
- The App Store: when the app starts, it asks the App Store for the Supporter Pack's current price in your local currency, so the store screen can show it. That request happens whether or not you ever open the store screen, and whether or not you use Game Center. If you buy or restore the Supporter Pack, Apple handles that too. See "Purchases" below.
If the device is offline, both simply do nothing and the game plays normally.
Game Center
Drivey Car includes an optional Game Center feature: worldwide leaderboards (one per mode, plus a daily board), shared across iPhone, iPad, and Apple Watch. It is entirely opt-in, and the game is fully playable without it.
- Game Center does anything only when you are already signed in to Apple's Game Center, which you manage in your Apple account settings. Drivey Car has no separate account or login.
- When you finish a run while signed in, Drivey Car submits that run's score to Apple's Game Center service so it can appear on the leaderboard. The same worldwide board is shared by every device.
- Those scores are handled by Apple, under Apple's privacy policy, as part of the Game Center service. Drivey Car operates no servers of its own, receives no personal data about you, and does not store your Game Center identity beyond what the system itself shows on the leaderboard screen.
- If you are signed out of Game Center, or offline, nothing is submitted at the time and the game behaves exactly as it does with the feature unused. If you sign in later, the best scores saved on your device are submitted then, so a score earned during an outage still reaches the leaderboard.
Purchases
Drivey Car offers one optional In-App Purchase, the Supporter Pack. The game is complete and fully playable without it, and there are no ads and no subscriptions.
- The purchase is handled entirely by Apple, through the App Store, under Apple's privacy policy. We never see a card number, a billing address, or your Apple Account details. None of that ever reaches us or any server of ours, because we operate none.
- To show the correct price in your local currency, the app asks the App Store for the product's price when it starts. That request carries no information about you.
- Whether you own the Supporter Pack is remembered on your device and confirmed with the App Store, which is also how "Restore Purchase" works on a new device. That status is a simple yes or no; it is not personal data and it is not shared with anyone.
Everything else Drivey Car stores stays on your device, as described above.
Data sharing and selling
We do not share, sell, rent, or otherwise disclose any data, because none is ever collected.
Children's privacy
Drivey Car is safe for players of all ages. Because the app collects no personal information from anyone, it collects none from children. It is consistent with the U.S. Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and similar laws, as there is no data collection to consent to.
Changes to this policy
If we ever change how Drivey Car handles information, we will update this policy and revise the effective date above. Because the app collects nothing and runs no servers of its own, any change would be reflected here before it takes effect in a new version of the app.
